We love a story with a villain and a receipt, and this one provides both. Yet I am wary of crowds that celebrate unmasking without asking how the tool might be used when the next target is less obviously contemptible. Defamation law can protect the weak, but it can also be a cudgel for the well resourced, and the internet rarely rewards nuance. If the moral is that anonymity is always shameful, we will have learned the wrong lesson. Better to say that anonymity is a privilege that collapses when it is used to injure others, and even then the process must be careful. Otherwise we replace one kind of mob with another.
