Rights do not erase responsibility. She is free to endorse whomever she chooses, and others are free to criticize her choice. On Dec. 21, 2025 at AmericaFest, the words mattered because they were amplified, not because they were rare. The hard part is keeping public life from becoming a punishment loop where the only goal is humiliation. If you dislike her endorsement, argue the substance, do not turn it into a purity test that makes dissent impossible. If you applaud her, demand standards from the people you elevate, including respect for rights and equal protection. A democracy that cannot argue without dehumanizing is a democracy that cannot govern itself.
